Finnish booking systems compared: what do they actually cost?
Published starting prices for Finnish booking systems run from €0 to €48.90 per month, and the most expensive published packages reach €149 a month. Those starting prices cannot be compared directly, because the unit is different in every price list — one charges per booking calendar, another per employee, a third per user. Two well-known providers publish no monthly price at all.
This page uses only figures that appear on the provider's own website. Prices were checked on 20 September 2026. Pricing changes often, so verify the numbers at the source before deciding.

Why the starting prices are not comparable
The table makes €7.90 look cheaper than €20. It does not mean the same thing, for two reasons.
The first is the unit. Vello charges per booking calendar, Hallinnoija per employee or room, Book Salon per user on Basic — but Pro has no user limit. Diarium charges a base program fee with a per-user fee on top. For a one-person business the differences are small; with three employees the order reverses.
The second is VAT. Ajas states its prices as "+ VAT", Diarium marks them "VAT 0". Vello's and Book Salon's published tables do not say whether tax is included. With VAT at 25.5%, that difference is larger than most of the price gaps visible in a comparison.
A three-person business: what the same month costs
The same situation, computed from published figures. A hair salon with three employees, each with their own calendar.
| System | Calculation | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Vello Basic | 3 × €7.90 | €23.70 |
| Hallinnoija | 3 × €7.90 | €23.70 |
| Ajas | €16 + 2 × €8 | €32 + VAT |
| Book Salon Pro | €39, regardless of user count | €39 |
| Diarium | €38 + 3 × €9 | €65, VAT 0 |
| Timma | cannot be computed from public information | — |
One row deserves a careful read. Book Salon Basic costs €20 per user and Pro €39 regardless of how many users you have, so Pro is already cheaper at two users: 2 × €20 = €40 against €39. Thresholds like this are exactly why a price list should be read with your own numbers rather than with the starting price from the brochure.
Hallinnoija's alternative model changes the arithmetic entirely. With no monthly fee the charge is 1% of completed bookings, so €0.60 on a €60 booking. For a three-person business that stays cheaper than €23.70/month as long as bookings add up to less than roughly €2,400 a month.
A Kanta connection is nearly always charged separately
If you are a registered healthcare professional handling patient data electronically, an ordinary booking calendar is not enough. This is also where the monthly price climbs the most.
| System | Price of the Kanta connection | Onboarding |
|---|---|---|
| Vello Pro | from €29.90/month on top of the base package | €125 during the trial, €335 after it, €0 when switching from another system |
| Ajas, healthcare | from €24/month + VAT | no published price |
| Ajas, social care | from €45/month + VAT | no published price |
| Diarium | €38/month + €9–49 per user, VAT 0 | no published price |
One line in Vello's price list is worth noticing: Kanta onboarding costs €0 when the customer is switching from another system. That is an offer aimed at a competitor's customers, and it is worth asking the others the same question before paying full price for onboarding.
We wrote about the obligation itself separately in the Kanta obligation for massage therapists, which answers the prior question of whether the obligation applies to you at all.
Marketplace or just a calendar
The systems fall into two groups, and this difference matters more in practice than the price difference.
The marketplace ones — Timma and Vello — list your business in their own directory, where customers browse providers in their area. So they bring in new customers, and they charge for it: according to Timma's help centre, a 20% commission applies to the first booking of a new customer the marketplace brought in.
The plain systems — Hallinnoija, Ajas, Diarium and Book Salon — handle the calendar, the customer register and payments, but bring nobody through the door. They are cheaper because they sell less.
So the question is not "which is cheapest" but "where do my customers come from now". If they come from a marketplace, the commission is the cost of acquiring them. If they come from your own channels, you are paying for an engine you do not use.
Who does not publish a price
On 20 September 2026 we checked the own website of every provider mentioned here. Two state no price at all.
- Timma does not publish a monthly price list. The commission percentage and the SMS price are in the help centre; the monthly fee is nowhere.
- Aikanen shows no pricing information on its site.
We do not hold that against them as such — for a tailored package a starting price can mislead. The practical consequence is still that no comparison can be made before contact, and after contact you are already in a sales conversation.
What to ask before you choose
These five questions separate price lists better than the starting price does.
- What is the unit of the price? Calendar, employee, user or the whole company — this decides what you pay when you hire another person.
- Is VAT included? 25.5% is more than most of the price gaps in a comparison.
- What comes on top of the monthly fee? Transaction fees, text messages, card terminal, Kanta, minimum volume.
- Is there a fixed term? Ask what the shortest commitment is and what cancelling costs.
- Can you get the customer register out? Ask in which file format and how fast. GDPR gives you the right to the data, but the practical implementation varies.
And what about an own website?
That is a different question, which is why it is on a different page. A booking system is software you rent monthly. An own website is a one-time purchase that brings no customers by itself, but also charges nothing every month. Each solves a different problem, and many small businesses need both.
We compared those two separately: booking system or your own website, and on marketplace commission, Timma or your own website. Our own prices are on the website cost page.

Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest booking system in Finland?
Of the published prices, the cheapest entry level is Vello Free at €0/month, where the charge is a per-transaction fee from €0.55. Among paid entry levels the cheapest are Vello Basic and Hallinnoija, both €7.90/month. The unit differs, though: in Vello the price is per booking calendar, in Hallinnoija per employee or room. Checked 20 September 2026.
What does a booking system cost for a three-person business?
On published prices as of 20 September 2026, for three people: Vello Basic 3 × €7.90 = €23.70/month, Hallinnoija 3 × €7.90 = €23.70/month, Ajas €16 + 2 × €8 = €32/month + VAT, Book Salon Pro €39/month regardless of user count, and Diarium €38 + 3 × €9 = €65/month at the lightest user tier, VAT 0. Transaction, SMS and card terminal costs come on top.
Why can't the starting prices be compared directly?
Because the unit changes. Vello prices per booking calendar, Hallinnoija per employee or room, Book Salon per user on Basic but unlimited users on Pro, and Diarium charges a base program fee plus a per-user fee. The same number means a different thing in each price list.
Which systems include a Kanta connection?
According to the published price lists, Kanta features sit in Vello's Pro tier, where the Kanta connection costs from €29.90/month on top of the base package, in Ajas healthcare packages from €24/month + VAT and social care packages from €45/month + VAT, and in Diarium. Vello's price list puts Kanta onboarding at €125 during the trial period and €335 after it, but €0 when switching from another system.
What does Timma cost per month?
Timma does not publish a monthly price list online, so we do not state a starting price for it. According to the company's own help centre, a 20% commission is charged on the first booking of a new customer the marketplace brought in, and no commission on that customer's later visits. Text messages cost €0.08 + VAT each.
What comes on top of the monthly fee?
Typically a per-transaction fee on online payments, text messages, an optional Kanta connection and delivery of a card terminal. In Vello's price list, for example, text messages cost €0.17 each, the transaction fee is €0.25–0.55 depending on tier, and card terminal delivery is €19. In Book Salon's list an SMS costs €0.10 and banking services €15/month per company.
Is an own website an alternative to a booking system?
Only partly, which is why we keep the questions separate. A booking system is software you rent monthly; an own website is a one-time purchase that brings no customers by itself. We compared those two on the page booking system or your own website, and the marketplace commission question on the page Timma or your own website.
