Small business website in Finland: what it costs and what it needs
Short answer: in Finland a small business website typically costs €400–900 + VAT as a one-page presentation and €700–2,500 + VAT as a multi-page company site. With us a ready site costs €790 and a site with online booking €1,290 as a one-off payment, Finnish VAT 25.5% included. After that you only pay for the domain, €10–30 a year.
A small business does not need a ten-page website. It needs a page where a client on a phone sees within seconds what you do, what it costs and how to get an appointment. On this page you will find prices, a content checklist, a comparison of the ways to build a site and an honest answer to when you do not need us at all.
How much does a small business website cost?
The price depends on what the site has to do. The market prices below come from the same public sources as our website price guide.
| Option | Price | Fits when |
|---|---|---|
| Website builder, do it yourself | a few dozen euros a year | you are testing an idea and have time to learn |
| One-page presentation | €400–900 + VAT | an online business card is enough |
| Multi-page company site | €700–2,500 + VAT | you have several services and a price list |
| Site with online booking | €790–2,490 | clients book appointments with you |

What should a small business website include?
According to Statistics Finland, 84% of Finns look for information about products or services online (Tilastokeskus, 2025). Once a client finds your page, they decide fast. These seven things decide whether they contact you or go back to the search results.
- What you do and where. One sentence at the top: the service and the town. A slogan tells the client nothing.
- Prices. At least starting prices. If no price is shown, the client has to call just to ask, and few people call in the evening.
- A way to book or get in touch. Online booking if you give appointments. Otherwise a form and a call button.
- Phone number, address and opening hours. The number should be callable with one tap.
- Works on a phone. Local search mostly happens on phones. If the page loads slowly or the text is too small, nothing else matters.
- Company name and business ID. The client sees who they are dealing with.
- Privacy notice. If a form or booking collects names and phone numbers, Article 13 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation requires you to explain how the data is handled.
Alongside the site it is worth setting up a Google Business Profile and linking it to the site, so your business also appears on Google Maps. You can create the profile yourself for free. If you would rather not spend an evening on it, we do it for €190.
Website builder, WordPress or a site built for you?
All three get you a website, at different prices and with different effort. The biggest difference shows a year later: who updates the site, and what happens when you want to switch provider.
| Website builder (e.g. Wix) | WordPress | Site built for you | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who builds it | you | you or a developer | a developer |
| Cost model | monthly or yearly fee | web hosting, theme and plugins | one-off or monthly payment |
| Online booking | through an add-on or separate service, within the template's limits | through a plugin | built into the site |
| Updates | handled by the service | WordPress and plugins need regular updates | depends on the build; ours is a static site with no plugins to update |
| If you switch provider | the site usually cannot be moved | can be moved to another host | with us, the code is yours |
If you are testing a business idea and have more time than money, a website builder is a sensible start. Once the site starts bringing clients and you hit the template's limits, it can be moved to a site of your own. With us, migration from a website builder costs €690. We compared the platforms' published prices in Wix, WordPress or your own website.
One-off payment or monthly plan?
Search results show plenty of websites on monthly plans. Offers start at €19 a month (Nykla), €39 (Medea), €49 (Makkee and yrityssivut.com) and €60 (Sivustudio), prices as the providers stated them on 26 September 2026. The upside of a monthly plan is clear: no large sum is needed at the start.
Still, work out the three-year total. Makkee lists €49 a month, a setup fee from €349 and a one-month notice period. The monthly price includes hosting, SSL and updates.
| Model | How it adds up | Three years in total |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly plan, Makkee as an example | €349 + 36 × €49 | €2,113 |
| ProfitSite Business | €1,290 + domain €10–30 a year | €1,320–1,380 |
| ProfitSite Business with technical maintenance | €1,290 + 36 × €45 + domain | €2,940–3,000 |
The last row is there on purpose. If you also take technical maintenance from us, the three-year total is higher than on the monthly plan. The difference is that maintenance is optional and the site stays yours even if you stop it. On a monthly plan, always ask who keeps the site if you stop paying. Not every provider says so in its price list.
How do you see the site before paying?
Websites are usually bought blind: you pay, you wait and you see the result at the end. We turn that order around.
- Day 1. You send your business name and email address through the form.
- 1–2 days. You get a link to a free preview. It is a real site with your business name and services.
- 5–10 days. If you take the site, we finish the booking system and admin panel and make the changes you ask for.
- Around day 14. We launch the site on your own domain, go through the admin panel with you and hand over the code.
Nothing is paid when you order. We invoice 50% once you approve the design draft and the remaining 50% before launch (service terms). We make 3–4 previews a week. If you do not take the site, we delete it.
Three languages and online booking in one site
In the Business package the site works in Finnish, English and Russian, and clients book straight from the site. Each new booking arrives as a Telegram and email notification, and you see all bookings in your own admin panel.
One figure shows why booking matters: Timma reports that over half of all bookings are made outside normal working hours. If your only booking method is a phone during opening hours, a large share of demand never reaches you.
If you are considering a separate booking system, we compared the published prices of Finnish booking systems and, separately, whether a booking system or your own website pays off. For examples by trade, see the blog: barbershops, beauty salons, massage therapists and cleaning companies.
When do you not need us?
When you are testing an idea. If you do not yet know whether the business will still be running in six months, a website builder is a cheaper way to start.
When clients come from a marketplace. If almost all new clients find you through a service like Timma, your own site will not replace it. We went through when Timma pays off and when your own site does.
When you sell hundreds of products online. Then you need an e-commerce platform. We build a small online shop of up to a hundred products for €1,900.
See it first, decide after
We build a free preview with your business name and services. You see the finished site before paying anything, and the preview does not commit you to anything.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a small business website cost in Finland?
A one-page presentation site typically costs €400–900 + VAT and a multi-page company site €700–2,500 + VAT (WebFin, Laakson verkkosivut, Verkkotakomo, LK Web 2026). At ProfitSite a ready site costs €790 and a site with online booking €1,290 as a one-off payment, Finnish VAT 25.5% included. Basic hosting is €0 a month, so the ongoing cost is the domain, €10–30 a year.
What should a small business website include?
At minimum: what you do and where, prices or starting prices, a way to book or get in touch, phone number and opening hours, the company name and business ID, and a privacy notice if a form or booking collects personal data. All of it has to work on a phone, because local search mostly happens on phones.
Is it worth buying a website on a monthly plan?
A monthly plan suits you if there is no large sum available up front. Still, work out the three-year price. Makkee, for example, lists €49 a month and a setup fee from €349, which comes to €2,113 over three years. As a one-off payment, our site with booking costs €1,290 plus the domain at €10–30 a year. On a monthly plan, always ask who keeps the site if you stop paying.
Who owns the website?
That depends on the contract, so ask before you order. A site made with a website builder usually cannot be moved to another service. Under ProfitSite's service terms, ownership of the site passes to the client after full payment and the source code is handed over. The client registers the domain in their own name.
How quickly is a small business website ready?
Our delivery time is 7–14 days. The free preview is ready in 1–2 days, finishing takes 5–10 days and the site goes live on your own domain. The schedule slips if texts or photos are late.
Can I see the website before I order?
Yes. We build a real preview site with your business name and services and send you the link. Nothing is paid when you order: 50% is invoiced once you approve the design draft and the rest before launch. We make 3–4 previews a week. If you do not take the site, we delete it.
Does a small business need online booking on its website?
If you give clients appointments, yes. Timma reports that over half of all bookings are made outside normal working hours, when nobody answers the phone. If you sell projects or quotes, a form and a call button are enough, and the Starter package at €790 is the right size.
